Case Study: Stakeholder Mapping and Launch Opportunity Assessment for a New Oncology Product

Project Objective

  • Our client had recently received EMA approval for a novel androgen receptor inhibitor, indicated within several solid tumors

  • To support reimbursement in Italy, Spain, Netherlands, and Sweden, the client wished to understand which key stakeholders would be involved in determining national and subnational price and access for the product and what factors would drive their decision-making

  • Then, for each key stakeholder, they wanted to identify key opportunities and strategies to maximize the pricing and market access potential

Windrose Approach

  • We developed in-depth market maps, outlining the key stakeholders, the pricing, reimbursement, and access process, and decision drivers at all decision-making levels

  • Then, we ran through an iterative process for identifying key challenges and opportunities for each stakeholder; initially through internal discussion, next through a global workshop, then with the affiliate teams, and finally with external payers and KOL stakeholders

  • We facilitated workshops with each cross-functional affiliate team to review leverage points and co-create an action plan to optimize access

  • Across markets, we identified common strategies the global team could work on to support affiliates in access optimization

Impact

  • Windrose provided the following:

    • Detailed and tailored market access maps for each country in scope, summarizing the key stakeholders and decision-making process for the product at a national, regional, and local level

    • An analysis of the key opportunities and barriers to pricing and access for the product, validated through internal affiliate discussions and primary research

    • Summary of affiliate action plans to optimize the commercialization of the product for each market

    • Recommendations for the global team to address common barriers and opportunities

  • The output of the project helped to align the global and affiliate team strategies and action plans, allowing them to be in a strong position as they prepare for launch of the product
