Case Study: Development of a Global Affordability Navigator to assess affordability solution strategies for a novel treatment in ulcerative colitis (UC)
Project Objective
Our client was launching a novel therapy for the treatment of UC and wanted to assess the strategic potential of patient affordability solutions across the following 13 international markets:
United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, and Greece
The aim was to develop a Global Affordability Navigator to provide markets with implementable strategies in case of self-pay or limited / delayed reimbursement
Windrose Approach
Windrose conducted secondary research on the patient affordability landscape across markets in-scope, assessing the reimbursement potential for Product X and current affordability solutions in ulcerative colitis, inflammation and immunity, or other chronic diseases
13 discussions were conducted with market affiliates to validate the reimbursement potential of Product X and feasibility of implementing affordability solutions
Windrose then developed a framework to identify and prioritize a list of relevant solutions, accounting for the local situation
Impact
We mapped the current affordability landscape for the markets in-scope and identified the most relevant affordability solutions based on reimbursement potential and other factors for each market
We developed an interactive Microsoft Excel tool for market affiliates to utilize when determining affordability strategies that best fit their market
We also provided a template for the business case to implement affordability solutions, assess their financial impact, and increase patient access to Product X
